Project Summary
The Department of Pediatrics at the University of British Columbia is sponsoring a student-led initiative to develop a free, universally accessible, educational resource for learning pediatric clinical skills. Developed by medical students and residents, with faculty oversight, our goal is to facilitate learning in Pediatrics.
Background
Computer-based education has been shown to be effective at teaching medical interviewing, inspection and physical examination. In 2001 UBC Pediatrics started a computer-based resource for medical students. LearnPediatrics was originally envisioned as a CD-ROM, but was later modified to be web-based, thereby extending its use and accessibility. Through the evolution of the program, students at different levels in their medical training have contributed to this online resource.
